Italy was represented by 36 athletes at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics (21 men and 15 women).
This is the smallest delegation from Italy since 1983.

The main hopes of medals were Andrew Howe (long jump), Antonietta Di Martino (high jump) and walkers such as Ivano Brugnetti and Alex Schwazer. 3 Medals (two silver, one bronze) have been won by Howe, Di Martino and Schwazer.
