The Italian Barbel (Barbus plebejus) is a species of ray-finned fish in the Cyprinidae family. It is found in Croatia, Iran, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Turkey. Its natural habitats are rivers and freshwater lakes. It is threatened by habitat loss.
