Itaim Paulista is a situated district in the extreme east of the city of São Paulo.

The territory where today it is the district of Itaim Paulista, at the beginning passed to be explored by the Portuguese of century 17, with the donation of semarias the Portuguese. The district had difficulties of growth for the fact of if locating next the great villages as São Miguel Paulista and Lageado. In the first centuries of settling, the Itaim Paulista was a compound of mansions farms and small farms. In 17 of June of 1951, the first chapel of the Itaim Paulista was constructed. The land for its construction was donated by the Cia. Bandeirantes S/A in 1950 passing the writing to the Bar of São Paulo. At the time, the Road Is Pablo-River passed to the side of the land and the water used for the construction of the old chapel was removed of the Itaim stream in wagons inside of tambores with capacity of 200 liters. In the year of the 2006, building most recent (constructed in 1979) the project of modernization of was eliminated for the construction of a new station in accordance with line 12 of the CPTM, in 28 of May of 2008 the new station was concluded.

The name Itaim comes of Tupi-Guarani and means Little Stone.

The Region is cut by three streams in felt North-South highway that empty in the Rio Tietê (Tietê River). They are: Itaim, Tijuco Preto, Três Pontes (Three Bridges) and Ribeirão Lageado (Brook Lageado). These streams already had been sources of income for the inhabitants of the region, today are dirty as the river where they empty.
