It Must Be Magic is the fourth and last studio album of Teena Marie on the Motown Label. It is her best-selling album on Motown Records and is regarded as a fan favorite. Further, it is regarded as one of the best albums on Motown Labels, a truly amazing feat for the then twenty five Teena. The song was her second fully written and produced album. The album showed off her talent with the hit songs "Square Biz", the title track, and "Portuguese Love". Her favorite song on the album, as well as her favorite song she's recorded, is the overwhelming and beautiful "Yes Indeed".

[edit] History
Teena Marie wrote 7 of the 9 songs by herself. This was only the beginning of her song-writing skills. Many of the arrangements were done by Teena Marie herself. One song features a song which tells how 'We need a resolution' after she found out about the killing of her favorite Beatle, John Lennon. Another song tells a funny story about "Rob and the Cradle" which was cowritten with Jill Jones. An extended version of the album was released in 2002. It features a full comprehensive essay, with chart positions.
[edit] Reception
The album was received well by her fans and is still enjoyed today. In fact, it is one of the few albums on Amazon to have a perfect five star rating with 27 different reviews! The album peaked at #23 on the Billboard 200, her highest chart at the time. It also hit #2 on the Soul/R&B chart and stayed there for an amazing 8 weeks. The ascent to the top may have been unreachable due to Rick Jame's "Street Songs", which was released around the same time.
