It's like That (Run-D.M.C. song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"It's like That (That's Just The Way It Is)" is a hip hop song performed by Run-D.M.C.. It first appeared in 1983 on a cassette backed with the track "Sucker M.C.'s". Both eventually received praise from the media[who?] as the first rap songs with grittier and harder beats, overpowering legendary hip-hop pioneers like Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow, and many others, and giving rise to new school hip hop. The song marked the start of Run-DMC's career and was featured on the trio's eponymous debut album.
The song is about how hard life is in the area where the group lives (unemployment, prices, death, etc). In 1997, a remixed version by DJ Jason Nevins was released in Continental Europe, and this would top the charts in many countries and finally top the UK chart in 1998 and remain there for six weeks[1] Despite its popularity, Nevins only got paid the standard flat-rate fee. [2]
Although the lyrics in the song relate to how hard life is back at home, the video clip (in the later version that was produced) reflected none of the lyrics - instead, it featured two rival breakdance crews battling each other in a breakdance battle in which the females ultimately win (despite the fact that the girls do little to no breakdancing - which leads to confusion by some).
It is featured in the game "GTA: Vice City Stories" on radio station, Fresh 105
