"It's Not Right but It's Okay" is a 1999 song by American singer Whitney Houston, and is the second single from her fourth album My Love Is Your Love. Initially featured as the B-Side of "Heartbreak Hotel," it became the album's third single and peaked at number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. It also topped Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, peaked at number seven on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, and was certified Gold. The music video was directed by Kevin Bray. The track won Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the 2000 Grammy Awards.
The song describes a woman evicting her husband from their home when she finds out, from a credit card receipt, that he is having an affair with another woman.
[edit] Reception
Although the original Rodney Jerkins-produced track was released and gained prominence, the Thunderpuss Radio Remix is arguably the most notable version of the song. In fact, it was only that remix that was released on Houston's 2000 Greatest Hits collection. The original album version was released on the 2007 edition.
The Johnny Vicious remixes were included on the domestic cd maxi-single of "Heartbreak Hotel" as well as the on the import single and are currently available as iTunes downloads. The KCC remix was included on the U.S. version of the "My Love Is Your Love" maxi-single and is also available as an iTunes download. Rodney Jerkins' remixes are the closest to the album version; Club 69 (Peter Rauhofer) also remixed the track for play in the UK. In the US, when it was released as a stand-alone single the mixes that appeared were Rodney Jerkins, Thunderpuss and Club 69.
