Istanbul Biennial

The International Istanbul Biennial is a contemporary art exhibition, held every two years in Istanbul, Turkey, since 1987. The biennial is organised by the İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts.
The 2005 Istanbul Biennial was curated under the title Istanbul by Vasif Kortun and Charles Esche. It took place across seven sites around the city. 53 artists and art groups from 28 countries exhibited their works of art and the biennial were visited by 51,000 visitors from Turkey and abroad.
The 10th International Istanbul Biennial opened on the 8 September and runs until the 4 November 2007 under the curatorship of Hou Hanru.
