On 14 February 2008, Israel's broadcaster decided to send Boaz Mauda to Belgrade.

The following songs were sung by Boaz Mauda in two national finals on 25 and 26 February 2008
- Ke'ilu Kan (As if here) by Dana International and Shai Kerem
- Masa Hayai (The journey of my life) by Itay Pearl
- Hine HaOr (There's the light) by Ovadia Hamama
- Bli Ahava (Without love) by Henree
- Parparim (Butterflies) by Doron Gal
Although the song Parparim (Butterflies) was widely seen the song that would win, it was Ke'ilu Kan that was voted to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008
