Israel Castro (born 20 December 1980) is a Mexican football player.
He currently plays as a defender for Club Universidad Nacional, a Mexico City team commonly known as the Pumas. He joined the Pumas youth system and worked his way through the ranks to debut in 2002; he's a regular starter and played a very important role on the 2004 campaign of the team, when Pumas won consecutive league championships. Fans also call him the "Asesino de galácticos" or "Assassin of Galactics", since he was the lone scorer in the game when Pumas defeated Real Madrid (nicknamed "los galácticos") for the Santiago Bernabeú trophy in 2004.
He played for Mexico in Copa América 2007. Castro caught the attention of European teams during Copa America, it has been rumored that La Liga's Espanoyl are intrested in signing in summer transfers.
