The Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8 is an automobile introduced in 1919 by Isotta Fraschini. The car was equipped with straight-8 engine and it was first serial produced car in the world to have such an engine.[3]
With this car the company gained great name and success as luxury car manufacturer.[1] The Tipo 8 was fitted with 5,9 litre straight-8 engine initially producing 80 bhp and soon raised to 90 bhp.[1] The car had top speed of around 85 mph (137 km/h) to 90 mph (140 km/h). The main rival of the car was Rolls-Royce.[1] The Tipo 8 was offered only with bare chassis and engine for the coachbuilders.[4]
The Tipo 8 series got two updated models the 8A and 8B.
