[edit] History

The population reached its peak in the early to mid-20th century. Since the mid-20th century, the population has been declining , particularly after the two conflicts, the World War II and the Greek Civil War as people left the village for a better life in other parts of Greece and in other parts of the world (mainly North America). The pace of the population's decline rarely slowed in the late-20th century. According to the 1981 and 1991 census, the village's population showed an upward short-lived trend, returning to the constant declining level (the majority of the population are mainly over 50 years old).
