[edit] Not sure on copyright status of list of magazine features

This article presents a long list of features for Islamic Voice Magazine found on their home page, www.islamicvoice.com. I understand how it would appear to be copying to a bot, but the rationale was that repeating a list of features was fair use.

If I am in error, I would be happy to remove the list. The article should still stand with the list removed.--Nowa (talk) 13:30, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I've declined the speedy as the article includes non-infringing material worth keeping. It would, indeed, still stand with the list removed. May I suggest that rather than an exhaustive list you high-light or summarize the offerings in a more encyclopedic fashion, perhaps in a paragraph opening "Some of the features of Islamic Voice include"? Not being familiar with the publication, I'm going to randomly spout off potential misinformation for illustrative purposes:
  • Some of the features of Islamic Voice include a compendium of news stories related to economy and education in Muslim community, a focus on issues related to women and children in Islamic communities, articles related to the interaction between Islamic communities and the West, and interviews with prominent members of Islamic communities. The magazine also offers book reviews and travel tips for its audience.
Something along these lines would not only eliminate any question of whether the list is fair use or not, but would make the article more readable. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:46, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I like your organization. I went ahead and trimmed the standard stuff most magazines have (e.g. "cover story") so that we can highlight the topical content (e.g. matrimonial).--Nowa (talk) 14:40, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
PS, When you say "law" do you mean Sharia?--Nowa (talk) 14:43, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
I meant "Fiqh". If that's not the right term to describe it, please alter it as necessary. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:54, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

To be honest, it's outside of my area of knowledge. I took the reference to Sharia out.--Nowa (talk) 15:44, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
