The Isle of Wight College is a general further education college (GFE) with a broad curriculum to reflect the needs to the Island community. The main campus is sited in a central location on the outskirts of Newport, the county town of the Isle of Wight and the island's principal retail centre. A number of other centres around the island are used for adult education, basic skills, family learning programmes and for information and communuication technology (ICT) courses.
The College is the island's major provider of further education and training for some 8,000 learners and has invested in accommodation over the past five years. It is also a Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) in four areas; care, hospitality, marine engineering and early years.
In a recent Office for Standards in Education inspection The College was rated as a Grade 1, a common grade. The inspectors commented:
"The Isle of Wight College is an outstanding college that is working most effectively to meet the needs of the island community. Standards are very high and improving for all learners who make outstanding progress during their time at The College. Teaching and learning are good and improving. Guidance and support for learners are outstanding."

- The College's Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is open to all College staff and students. It is housed in a bright, airy state-of-the-art building. Open from early until late, the LRC is a flexible space for private study and group work. LRC staff support the information and study needs of students.
The LRC has two floors. On the first floor is the Library where books, DVDs, videos, the internet, newspapers, magazines, and career information are available. On the top floor is the Learning Zone, where there are over 20 networked computers which can be used for College work.
- The College Restaurant is run by students under the supervision of college staff. It is open to the public four days a week. It offers a Bistro style menu as well as Chef's daily specials and Friday is a Carvery. The Restaurant is also open on Thursday evenings for Classic Cuisine and Friday evenings for party bookings of 50 people or more.
- The College Refectory is run by Pabulum Catering. A wide range of snacks and meals are offered including 'Hot Meals', 'Salad Bar', 'Grab & Go', 'Pasta and Pizza Bar' and the 'Baguette Bar'. 'Help Yourself' dishes are also available daily.
- The Hair and Beauty Salons are open to the public. They are run by students under the supervision of staff. The salons offer an extensive range of treatments and products.
- The Play Station College nursery is set within the grounds of the College in a purpose built new building. It offers outstanding day-care provision for students, staff and the wider community by experienced and qualified staff. Babies and children from 6 weeks to 5 years attend the nursery during term time. During holiday periods children up to the ages of 8 years are accepted.
- The college has over 500 computers with internet access. All computer are available to all students at all times. The college also has a dedicated 'AppleMac' suite for Graphic Communication and Media Courses. All these computers run industry standard software.

Isle of Wight Collge hosts students from countries across the world, including Japan, Thailand, China, Poland, Denmark, France and Russia. Successful international students gain Cambridge qualifications and experience living in an English speaking culture.
