Islam Zinda Baad Platform

The Islam Zinda Baad Platform, known also as the Long Live Islam Platform, is a minor political party in England. It has been registered with the Electoral Commission since March 17, 2005. Its leader is Doctor Mohammed Salim.

Dr. Salim stood as the Islam Zinda candidate in the constituency of [[Rochdale (UK Parliament constituency)|Rochdale]] at the United Kingdom general election, 2005. He received 361 votes, less than 1% of the total votes cast.

The Platform have an explicit religious policy, with Dr. Salim telling the Rochdale Observer newspaper during the 2005 election, "Our main message is God is good and we want as many people as possible to take part in the democratic process."(1)

Dr Salim was previously a teacher, and has 11 children. Because of the number of children he has, he can claim more in state benefits than a tearcher's salary, and so he has given up his teaching post (While working, Mr Salim earned £27,000-a-year. Not working, Mr Salim is said to pull in £29,096 a year). He says: “This is what is great about Britain. In Pakistan, the government does not look after you.”

Despite having enough children to form his own football team, Salim, has no plans to stop expanding his family and already has his heart set on child number 12.

Noreen, who has been pregnant almost every year since 1991, is perhaps unsurprisingly less enthralled than her husband at the prospect of more babies.
