Isla Escudo de Veraguas

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Isla Escudo de Veraguas is an isolated island of the Republic of Panama. Despite its name, it is not part of the province of Veraguas, but rather Bocas del Toro. Located 20 miles from the coastline in the Golfo de los Mosquitos, it is far enough away from other islands and the mainland to have developed a number of subspecies found only on the island.

It is mostly uninhabited but there are a few native campsites on the island, seasonally inhabited by fishermen. Most of the island is in a near-pristine undeveloped state.
