Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness (牧場物語キミと育つ島 Bokujou Monogatari: Kimi to Sodatsu Shima, lit. It is the fourth installment on the DS.

[edit] Plot
The main character (either Mark or Chelsea) has been stranded on a deserted island with Tarou, his daughter Feleana and her children Natalie and Elliot. To deal with this crisis, the main character and the family of four start a farm on the island. As the player's farm develops, a town develops as well, with citizens moving in, providing ranching/agriculture services.
[edit] Gameplay and features
All movement and actions are performed DS the touch screen, with the four face buttons (or alternatively the D-pad) being used to select and/or equip tools and items. IGN stated that the control scheme incorporated a good bit more touch control rather than Harvest Moon's past DS entries, Harvest Moon DS and Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon. This game uses the Nintendo Wi-Fi service for a farm ranking service, and a voice chat session using the DS's built-in microphone.
[edit] Marriage candidates
As in other games in the Harvest Moon series, Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness offers players a chance to court and marry. There are six bachelors and bachelorettes from which to choose, which can be considered more than the amount of bachelors/bachelorettes in more traditional Harvest Moon games. Four of them (Mark, Shiba, Chelsea, and the Princess) have no rival.
English names are pending while Lily's (Lanna), Shiva's (Shea), Eric (Elliot) and Valts (Vaughn) has been revealed.
[edit] Bachelorettes
- Natalie - Natalie is one of the people who is shipwrecked on the island with you. She can be rather rough, a tomboy and competitive, and usually makes fun of her brother. Rival: Pierre
- Julia - Julia helps her mother in her shop. Julia has a positive attitude towards everything and is very cheerful. She loves horses. Rival: Elliot
- Lanna - She debuted as an in the city, but had trouble keeping it up. She came to the island to mend a broken heart. She's outgoing but rather stuck up. Her hobby is fishing. Rival: Danny
- Ceffiena - Ceffiena came to the island with her father, who is president of the mining company. She is a quiet, shy girl who helps her father with his work. She is very interested in ores. Rival: Vaults
- Witch Princess - She was so tired of living in Forget-Me-Not Valley and had to take a trip to an island where few people lived. In addition, she heard that the Harvest Goddess is here. She keeps 21 small teddy bears and one large one in her house. She has an invisible heart. Unlike in Harvest Moon DS, there are no special requirements for you to marry her and has no rival.
- Chelsea - Chelsea is one of the two playable characters you can choose from at the start of the game. If you choose to be Mark instead of Chelsea, then Chelsea will become one of the characters available for marriage. She's vigorous with her work and can cheer up anyone who is around her. She has no rival. She arrives when you are 50% done with the island and have all the main characters except her.
[edit] Bachelors
- Elliot - One of the people who is shipwrecked on the island with you. He's very polite but somewhat cowardly. It bothers him that he's weaker than Natalie, despite him being the older sibling. Rival: Julia
- Vaults - An exotic animal Dealer. He has a very serious, almost emotionless attitude. Comes to the islands on Wednesdays and Thursdays. He cares alot of money. His rival is Ceffiena.
- Danny - He's very familiar with the sea. He heard there's a lot to be found at the island. His mother told to meet new people so he came to check it out. Though normally cheerful, he has quite a temper when mad. He raises Minah birds. Rival: Lanna
- Pierre - An 8th generation gourmet man. Pierre has an Uncle named Gourmet and a large family, and his father and sisters were very strict with his education. He has a great taste for good food. Though he's usually very nice, he can be downright brutal when it comes to judging other's cooking. Rival: Natalie
- Shea - The Adopted son of the witch doctor, Wada. He helps Wada by guarding his hens, ducks and birds from the Demon Bears. Unlike other bachelors, his heart is invisible. He has no rival.
- Mark - Mark is one of the two playable characters you can choose from at the start of the game. If you choose to be Chelsea instead of Mark, then Mark will become of the characters available for marriage. He has a positive attitude toward life. He has no rival. When you are 50% with the island, he will come along.
[edit] Marriage Requirements
- 2nd house extension.
- Second bed (buy from Chen for 10,000G after 2nd extension).
- Blue Feather (buy from Chen for 1000G once you've got your potential partner to an orange heart or 8~9 LP).
- Potential spouse at a red heart or 10 LP.

- You must have seen that person's purple, blue, and yellow heart events. The red heart event occurs only once you've met all other requirements and give the person the Blue Feather
- Town at least 50% complete
- You must have met all of the marriage candidates (including the other protagonist). But if any move out before you marry, that won't present a problem.
[edit] Mineral Town Sightseers
Cliff, Doctor Trent, Karen, and Popuri come visit the island in certain seasons when you expand the inn. None of the Mineral Town people are up for marriage (because they are already married).
- Cliff - Visits in the Spring. Cliff is married to Ann, every Friday he goes to the Diner.
- Doctor Trent - Visits in the Summer. Doctor Trent is married to Elli and a World Around Doctor.
- Karen - Visits in the Fall and Winter with Popuri. She is married to Rick and is Popuri's sister-in-law.
- Popuri - Visits in the Fall and Winter with Karen. Popuri is married to Kai. She is Karen's sister-in-law.
[edit] Animals
[edit] Livestock
- Cows
- Sheep
- Chickens
[edit] Pets
- Dog
- Horse[1]
The only pets are a Dog and Horse. Though due to some confusion over Island of Happiness's sequel, Shining Sun & Friends, some think that a pet in that game, the white Cat, is obtainable in Island of Happiness. However, this has been proved false, and is exclusive to Shining Sun & Friends.
