iSkin is a company based in Toronto, Ontario mostly known for its iPod cases, which it first released in 2002. iSkin has since produced a variety of other accessories such as headphones, Macintosh keyboard guards, and Sony PSP cases.

Nine months after the very first version of the iPod hit the market, iSkin Inc. released its very first silicone protector for the then new MP3 player. Like many iPod owners, the founders of iSkin immediately realized that the iPod was special and needed more than your standard black vinyl case to protect it against the hazards of day-to-day life. A new form of protection was required that was elegant yet functional, simple yet sophisticated and this sense of style would help to further personalize the iPod without sacrificing its external appeal.

Over the years iSkin and iPod evolved in synergistic seemingly harmonic relationship and with each generation of iPod, consumers would trust their new players to iSkin. Keeping it safe and adding a touch of personal style was a simple concept that created a movement like no other in consumer electronic history. iSkin, like the iPod grew more sophisticated, leading towards industry first design innovations that still to date have yet to be matched by competitors. Features such as: ViSOR (Visually Intact Silicone Optical Resin) screen protector with anti-scratch technology, sophisticated anti-dust coatings on silicones, embedded anti-microbial agents and a revolutionary patent pending belt-clip design have all helped propel iSkin towards the front of the pack and continue its reign as the “must have” iPod accessory.

Today, iSkin has taken it a step further by entering the world of Bluetooth with its CERULEAN wireless products that offer cutting edge audio technology. iSkin has also managed to balance technology and fashion by offering products that are beautifully styled and designed for the sophisticated consumer. The iPod and Macintosh platforms continue to be the company’s main focus but it recognizes the global appeal of its brand and plans are in the works to further its offerings across other markets.

The journey so far has been a business success story for iSkin and the company looks optimistically towards the future. This success has translated into increased sales revenues over the past 5 years and increased market penetration both domestically and internationally. iSkin regards everything it does with a passion- symbolized by the discrete heart in its logo. iSkin will continue its path as a trendsetter for developing some of the most remarkably innovative and fashionably aware products in its industry for many years to come.

iSkin markets most of its cases as "dual-layered" with an inner silicone layer and harder outer polycarbonate layer. They own the trademark "Si" to describe this "silicone-inside" design.[1]

iSkin's "Shuffle Duo" case, said to be the first "dual-layered" case for the iPod shuffle,[2] was awarded the Best iPod Shuffle Case of 2005 by iLounge.[3]

iSkin has recently focused on the outer appearance of their covers, releasing a variant that showcases illustrations from tokidoki founder Simone Legno. iSkin has also been noted for its glow-in-the-dark covers.[4]

The company has branched out to create covers for a wider variety of products, including "keyboard covers for virtually everything Apple".[5]
