Iseyin

Iseyin is a city located in the Nigerian state of Oyo. It is approximately 100 kilometers north of Ibadan. The city is estimated to have a population of 236,000. ^[1] The primary industry of the area is cotton-based textiles.^[2] It also known as the Home of "Aso Oke". Tobacco is grown there ^[2] and it is as a result of this that one of the biggest tobacco companies owned by British and American cited their leaf office in the city. Iseyin has been the headquarters of Oke-Ogun area. The Oke-Ogun people which comprise of Iseyin, Okeho, Iganna, Ado-Awaye, Eruwa etc of language or dialet known 'Onko' solicited for Oke-Ogun State in the last States creation in Nigeria, with Iseyin as the Capital. They are not granted yet. Meanwhile, it has just been approved by the federal government that the only federal Polytechnic in Oyo state should be cited in Iseyin. The state government has promised early take off of the institution.
