Ischnochiton is a genus of chitons in the family Ischnochitonidae. They are elongate-ovate chitons, with the girdle scales minute. The tail valve is much the longest, and has a well developed mucro, a projection that separates the anterior and posterior areas. The are found in most warm to cool temperate seas. They are found from the Eocene era onwards.
