[edit] "intellectual debt"

Ayn Rand consciously "owed an intellectual debt" only to one person, and that was Aristotle. It's true that Rand admired Paterson's work for a period of time, but Rand didn't necessarily "learn" anything from her. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.220.74.164 (talk) 03:06, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

You are confusing's Rand's view of who influenced her philosophy (Aristotle alone) with her view of history and other intellectual issues. Rand wrote on a lot more than just philosophy. See, for example, her work on economics, Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal. Obviously Rand didn't make up the idea of free markets herself, and she didn't get these ideas from Aristotle either. 69.43.128.132 23:42, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
