Facts have been taken mostly from Todd Balf's "The Darkest Jungle: The True Story of The Darien Exspedition And America's Ill-Fated Race to Connect the Seas."
A box including the names of other Darien explorers might be appropriate. Explorers to be included: Balboa, 1513; Drake, 1572; Oxeham, 1575; William Paterson, 1699; Dr. Edward Cullen, Irish physician and member of the Royal Geographic Society, 1850.
Also want to draw in the competitive nature of interest in the Darien Gap by Great Britain, Spain and the United States.
Want not to over-expand the Strain entry, but include the political surrounds in which his exploration took place.
