Isao Harimoto

Isao Harimoto (張本 勲, born June 19, 1940 in Hiroshima, Japan), real name is Jang Hun[1], is a former Nippon Professional Baseball player. He was born as a Zainichi Korean in Hiroshima, Japan and survived the release of a nuclear weapon over the city on August 6, 1945[2]. During his career, he played for the Toei Flyers, the Yomiuri Giants, and the Lotte Orions[2]. He had a distinguished career with his 1959 rookie of the year selection and his 1980 receipt of the South Korean Moko (Fierce Tiger) prize for excellence in sports[2]. He holds the Japanese record for 3085 hits in his professional career and was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990. Currently, he is a baseball analyst, and outspoken member of the Japanese Hibakusha Movement, a project dedicated to outlawing global nuclear weaponry, and gaining compensation for victims of their use.
