Isaac, Itzhak or Yitzhak (Hebrew: יִצְחָק, Standard Yiẓḥaq Tiberian Yiṣḥāq ; Arabic: إسحٰق, ʾIsḥāq ; "he will laugh") is one of the patriarchs, whose story is told in the Biblical book of Genesis. (See also Binding of Isaac for the narrative of Abraham's near-sacrifice of Isaac).
