[edit] Biography

Employing plentiful heraldic imagery and a website that gives the user a guided tour of European castles as well as band info, Iron Clad are a Medieval metal band fronted by none other than the renowned figure of Ancient Rites vocalist Gunther Theys. The band is centred upon guitarist/keyboard player Sammy who, along with drummer Rony and bassist Luc, previously operated in the 1987 Metal band Demoniah.

Sammy and Rony regrouped in 1999 to forge Iron Clad. Sammy would relocate to California but distance did not curtail the project, guitars and keyboards recorded in the USA and then flown over to Belgium for the 'Lost In A Dream' album to be completed. Released in April of 2002 by the Good Life Recordings group 'Lost In A Dream' saw guest guitar contributions from They's Ancient Rites comrade Erik Sprooten as well as Bart from black metal band Suhrim.

Besides IRON CLAD and Ancient Rites, Theys also holds down membership of Danse Macabre and Lion's Pride. Rony also joins Theys in Lion's Pride whilst bassist Luc is a member of Voice of Glory. Sammy pursues a solo venture billed as Clad in Shadows.[1]
