IROC IV

The fourth year of IROC competition took place over three weekends in 1976 to 1977. IROC IV saw the use of the Chevrolet Camaro in all races, and the schedule was held over in its entirety from IROC III. A.J. Foyt won the championship without winning a race for the second year in a row, and took home $50,000 for his efforts.

  1. David Pearson took Jody Scheckter's place in the Daytona finale after Scheckter declined to race, choosing instead to focus on a Formula 1 commitment. Pearson had not previously made the top 9 cut to go to Daytona.
  2. James Hunt quit the series after the first race, choosing instead to concentrate on Formula 1.
