"Irlam was once looked on as one of the safer areas of Salford but crime and vandalism have rocketed over the past few years. Some people blame "New Labour" but it is more likely that the general attitude of the youth of today is to blame." - any references to back this up? More of an opinion than fact! --- now removed

This section seems muddled. What's it actually supposed to be talking about? The price of houses in Irlam? Is the Tesco's hypermarket a major employer in the area? Hardly seems to encyclopedic. ---- Eric 23:28, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

This article needs a complete rewrite,I believe some of it is directly copied from the salford city council website and I believe the old article was better.Anyone else agree? Aspeas 11:57, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- Almost all of it was copied from the Salford City Council web site. So I've rewritten it, with information from additional sources. I don't know which old article you mean, but I think the current article is a good enough starting point for expansion. The Latham family for instance. What exactly were their contributions to the life of Irlam, and is there any substance to the claim that Thomas Latham played some kind of important role in bringing William of Orange to the throne? ---- Eric 21:55, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
