[edit] Usage
This template is the master template for all of Irish county templates. Note that it is based on Template:US county navigation box. A sample is shown here:

[edit] Titles
There are seven fixed titles in the template (any more necessary ones can be added); if the "body" of any is left blank, then the title will not appear. Please note that "body1" will always be cities, "body2" will always be boroughs, and so on. All places included in the body should be in alphabetical order, regardless of population. The titles are as follows (in this order):
- Including any incorporated place with a city council, eg. Cork; also Kilkenny, as a chartered city. For all counties without cities, please see below.
- Including any incorporated place with a borough council, specifically Clonmel, Drogheda, Sligo, Wexford.
- Including any incorporated place with a town council, eg. Bray. These are, specifically, the 75 towns as defined under the Local Government Acts of 1994 and 2001.
- Including any unincorporated place that is defined as a 'census town' by the CSO, eg. Enniskerry. Only census towns with a population above 1,000 should be placed here (otherwise, they should be included as villages). For a full list, see here (towns in bold are incorporated, towns not in bold are unincorporated, however this list includes census towns with populations above and below 1,000, so you should check each town's population yourself).
- Including any unincorporated place, and any census town with a population below 1,000, eg. Avoca.
- Any area other than any of the above designations, note that this should not be an exhaustive list, meaning only where an article already exists on Wikipedia should it be added (there are over 60,000 townlands in Ireland), eg. Hempstown.
- Any islands under the administrative control of that county council.
For more information on the specific types of town, see this page on the CSO website.
[edit] NB for counties without cities
Because the map doesn't display when "body1" is left blank, a special dispensation has been added for all counties that don't have cities. For these counties, whichever type of place would be highest on the above list (i.e. boroughs for Sligo County, incorporated towns for Wicklow County, unincorporated towns for Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County, etc.), in lieu of putting these places in their usual field, they should be placed in the "body1" instead. The title of this field will automatically change depending on whichever type of place is in it.
[edit] Optional parameters
Other optional parameters for special cases:
- map_size
- Use to set width of map image if different from default (currently 130px). Value is the number without "px", i.e.
| map_size = 80
- color
- Use this to change the default background color for the main title and sidebar titles, i.e.
color = #66BB66
- text_color
- Use this to change the default text color for the main title and sidebar titles. Note that you will still need to manually change the color of any wikilinks using a span tag, i.e.
[[Unincorporated community|<span style="color:gold">Communities</span>]]
- collapse_state
autocollapse
: (default) the navigation box will start out collapsed if there are two or more collapsible tables on the same page.collapsed
: the navigation box will always start out in a collapsed state.- blank or anything other than the above (
expanded
, etc.) : always start out in an expanded state.
