Ireland international rules football team

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ireland international rules football team is the representative team for Ireland (both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland) in international rules football, a compromise between Gaelic football and Australian rules football. The team is made up of Gaelic Athletic Association players.

At present the only team it plays is the Australia international rules football team, on an annual basis.

Starting in 2006 a women's series has been inaugurated to coincide with the men's and become an integral part of the annual series. Ireland won the first series.

Under 19 and Under 17 national teams also participate in separate tournaments.
