Ireland chose their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 using the Late Late Show Eurosong special, which took place on 16 February. RTÉ internally selected the County Sligo based traditional Irish band Dervish, to represent Ireland in Helsinki. They performed the song "They Can't Stop The Spring", in Helsinki in the Eurovision final on 12 May 2007, finishing in last place with five points, all from Albania[1]. The song was written by John Waters and Tommy Moran.

Dervish are one of the most prominent ambassadors of traditional Irish music and have performed to audiences around the globe. Interest has surrounded the song selection since Dervish are known for their capability of performing in English and Irish.

The song finished last in the competition, this is an interesting fact, as Ireland have won the Eurovision Song Contest more times than any other country (with a total of 7 wins).
