Welcome

Hello, Irarum/Archive1, and welcome to Wikipedia! I am Deepu Joseph (a.k.a. thunderboltz). Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Why separate login in different languages

Why do i have to login when change my language from english to malayalam and that i donot see my user pages in the two language linked .

Thanks activevoid 16:44, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Mediawiki wikis currently do not share login information - you have to create a separate account for each wiki you frequent. There are plans to change this, though, and they should be happening pretty soon. (See m:Single login specifications) In order to prepare for this, and to ensure a speedy transition, I suggest you (1) Create an account using the same username (if available) on all wikis you use. (2) Set the same e-mail address for all wikis you use, and follow the confirmation procedures. The password can be different; that won't matter. You can link your user page by using the same interwiki syntax used on articles. For example, on your Malayan user page, at the bottom you can insert "en:User:Irarum" to link it to your English Wikipedia user page, and vice versa. Cheers, Tangotango 16:49, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Pradip Somasundaran

This is a message to all Category:Kerala Wikipedians

I want your opinion on this particular person Pradip Somasundaran. He claims to be a famous singer in Kerala. Now being a Malayalee, I have not heard of this person before, so I wonder whether or not you have heard of him before and set this issue straight. If so, then please let your opinion be counted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pradip Somasundaran. Please note that by voicing your opinion as a Malayalee/Keralite will add more weight to your words.

Many Thanks --Ageo020 21:42, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

User boxes How do we give a gap between items in the user box tried
not working

You want to use userboxbreak. Sorry for the delay in response.05:45, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Umm....I just realized I used the wrong number of tildes in my signature so only the time displayed and not my name. Sorry about that. —WAvegetarian(talk) 05:56, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm not really sure what it is that you are asking. Do you want to have Babel surrounded by a border and other boxes surrounded by a different border?—WAvegetarian(talk) 07:20, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Hi!

Hello. First, an appology for the delay. 'Am a bit busy now a days, and usually log in only in the evening.
About the coloured block, it appears because you left some space from the beginning of the line before starting the sentence. If you do not wish it to appear, simply start the sentence from the beginning of the line. (Or in other words, don't start like how we mallus begin new paragraphs. :P)
To see a link to your Malayalam userpage, you need to add ml:User:Irarum to your user page, as Tangotango explained. Hope that clears up all the doubts. Looking forward to your edits here. I'm also dropping you a few India related links that you might be interested in:

Links Between Different Language Wikipedias

How do you give Links Between Different Language Wikipedias eg:for the same topic in the two languages activevoid 19:37, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Short version: add the two-letter-code for the language then the name of the article: de:autobahn for instance, then on the German wikipedia, put en:autobahn.
Long version: Check out m:Interwiki first and the Meta Interwiki Map. You only need to put one inter-wiki link (e.g. apply de:autobahn to the English article) as there are bots which complete the links for you. ~Kylu (u|t) 19:45, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

info Boxes

How do you make info boxe templates as done for cities (with locator map, and details in nutshell).I found only templates but none of them explained how to create such a template. Is it possible to make such templates in other language wiki (in the same way as in english)activevoid 19:47, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

I would assume so, searching meta for template programming stuff and posting to the village pump would be the ways and places to get this help. WP:VP/T -- Wirelain 19:51, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Just a note

Hello. Noticed you were creating some interesting articles. Thought I'd drop you a note about the Did you know process on wikipedia. If you create an article that has an interesting fact, you can submit it for featuring on the main page under the "Did you Know" section. Two things to remember while doing this: 1) The article should have sufficient content and references. 2) You should nominate the interesting fact within 5 days of creation of the article.
As an example, you could submit a DYK entry like the following for Raja Raja Varma article:

 • ...(DYK) that Tanjore style painter Raja Raja Varma is credited with giving the first drawing lessons to Ravi Varma?

Btw,. I think I should add a third point too: Keep your fingers crossed and pray that your nomination gets selected. ;-)
This page should clarify most of your queries. In case of any doubts, just drop me a note. Cheers!-- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK12:43, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

to add custom Signature

How do you add (talk|contib) after your user name when you sign your edits. Thanks

Have you tried just signing your comments? I'm not sure, but I think the default signature may do it for you automatically. If not, you can make a custom signature that has links to them. --JD don't talk email me 16:38, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Signature

Hi! There are many ways to make a different sig. If you just want to add (talk • contribs), then use Irarum and it will show up as Irarum (talk · contribs). A more versaitle option is to enable raw signatures at Special:Preferences. Then type some HTML or wiki code into the signature box over there. For example, type: activevoid (talk • contribs), and then sign using the normal ~~~~, and the same will show up. And in case you want to make it more flashy with colours like mine, then create a sub page at User:Irarum/sig and then make your sig there (see mine for example). Then type: instead of the ~~~~ to sign. Phew! Hope I didnt confuse you too much. ;-) Give it a try and tell me if you (and if you dont) succeed. -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK05:00, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Kerala history

Hi! I noticed that you were making a few comments on articles like Talk:Kingdom of Cochin, Talk:Chera, etc. Very few editors here are well versed with history. I think it would be better if you boldly go ahead and make the necessary changes in the article. Cheers! -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK05:06, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Malayalam calendar

Hello, good work in the Malayalam calendar. Tintin (talk) 09:16, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Was this edit made by you?-- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK15:42, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Can you please add some context to Thiruvathira njattuvela. I have seen it mentioned in panchangams but have not much clue what it is and when it happens. Tintin (talk) 15:47, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

I redirected Malayalam era to Malayalam calendar as the latter included everything in era and was a much better article. Is it okay or do you think era should also be retained seperately ? Tintin (talk) 15:57, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Okay. Tintin (talk) 16:06, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Okies. I was just concerned if someone was trying to impersonate as you. Do you have a static IP? You seem to have contribted via that ip before. -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK16:30, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Probably because our institute has a single gateway and hence should show the same...and we have a private Ip network in the Institute. So probably anybody editing inside the instittue might show the same IP..Can be problem if some vandalism happens from our Instittute.activevoid (talk) 16:36, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Oh, dont worry about that. There already is a warning given on User_talk:203.200.35.8 alerting that the ip is shared. Keep up the great work! Awsome work expanding the mallu cal article. Cheers! -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK16:45, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
