[edit] This article is inacurate

Consider these points:

The Iraqis or the Iraqi people (Arabic,عراقيون) are defined as a Middle Eastern ethnic group,

By whom may I ask?

They are defined as ones that share the sense of a common Iraqi culture, speaking Iraqi Arabic as a mother tongue and being of Iraqi descent.

As an Iraqi, I know that they prefer Arab ethnicity, Kurdish ethnicity and Assyrian ethnicity.

This group does not include the minorities living in Iraq, such as the Kurds and Armenians, who, despite being citizens of Iraq, are not of Iraqi ethnicity.

Armenians, well from personal experience I would agree although a citation would be even better. But Kurds!!! please, although their mother tongue is not Arabic but they still consider themselves Iraqis, or at least this what I found out the last time I checked. This needs a serious citation.

The term Iraqi people has several usages. In the most common form it refers to the people of Iraq. It is also used to refer to those people with Iraqi ancestry outside of Iraq. Iraqi citizens who have been naturalized as a citizen of other countries are also be referred to as "Iraqi".

The writer apparently has no idea what he is talking about. This is not an etymology it's the way the word is used.

but people in the cities and towns have life-styles similar to those in the West.

Are you kidding me!!!!

This article needs serious rewriting. --Maha Odeh 06:04, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nothing sourced, page is horrible

This group does not include the minorities living in Iraq, such as the Kurds[citation needed] and Armenians, who, despite being citizens of Iraq, are not of Iraqi ethnicity. - What is an ethnic Iraqi? Where is the source? Chaldean 17:13, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I am considering to put this for AfD, because this article is terrible at the moment. It's sounds more like some sort of pseudo-science material, trying to link Arabs in Iraq into some ancient Mesopotamian people, and there is no evidence for that. Also, sources are lacking. This article needs a serious cleanup, and let's face it, Iraq is a modern construction, most people in Iraq don't care that much about an Iraqi identity, since it's a very newly constructed one, and an identity that is trying to forcefully bring together many different ethnic groups. Iraqi is simply a citizenship, not an ethnic group of people. — EliasAlucard|Talk 19:46 12 Oct, 2007 (UTC)
Elias don't give me that crap ;) . look at the history page you did obviously revert a "vandalism". That shows your support to this article, you have also claimed that 50% of Iraqi Arabs are Assyrians so for god sake the last thing needed here is 2 faced users ;) Simenged 18:49, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
If you're talking about this revert, yes, User:Irqirq was a troll. Anyway, Iraqi people are not an ethnic group. Neither are Americans. That said, this article isn't really needed. — EliasAlucard|Talk 14:00 19 Oct, 2007 (UTC)
