Iranian immigration to the Arabian Peninsula (ayam) has been continuous and very rapid since the fall of the third Persian Empire, that is from the rule of Nader Shah to the rule of the Qajar dynasty. Today, Kuwait continues to have the highest number of Iranians in the Arabian Peninsula. The Iranian Kuwaiti community has produced a sizeable number of list of Iranian Kuwaiti individuals notable in many fields, including business, history, and Kuwait’s development in general. The community expanded predominantly in the early 1900s in the fall of the Persian Empire.
Monuments vestige to this group can be found in Kuwait such as the Maarafi Hussainia in the Capital of Kuwait -- that was built as a worship place for Shi`ite Muslims. The building is a Hussainia that was founded by an Iranian merchant; it is known that his great grandfather was one of the first Iranians to reach Kuwait; which was in the late 1700s.
