Currently living in Chicago, I tumbled upon Wiki when trying to explain podcasting to my aged relatives. Since then, it's become a major resource in any research I do, for work or for fun. I have a varied number of interests, few of which have anything to do with each other.

If you feel, for whatever god-forsaken reason, you must argue against an edit I've made, put it on a talk page or you'll be meeting my spam filter. Seriously.

[edit] My personal policies

What follows is born of questions people have asked me enough that my stance is public.

[edit] We look it up

We don't ask, we look it up. Then we ask. If someone needs help, show them where to find the information. Don't just say 'This page...', say 'This page, this section.' Show them how to find things. Remember, if you give a man a fish, that man knows where to go for fish!

[edit] Number of Edits

My contributions are minimal compared to many, as I believe in thinking twice and posting once, but I do my part to help the status quo. This is the short way to say I don't give a hoot if you have 10 or 10,000 edits. Length of time is no excuse for being a dink :)

[edit] Spoilers

I don't have issues with people spoiling comics/books/movies/tvshows, however I think that spoiler information is, by in large, unverified. That is, it falls under the realm of speculation. By that I mean that until and unless the information is proven inside the pages or on the screen of a canon and accepted work (comic issue, tv episode), then it should not be in an article.

[edit] Present Tense

It has been generally accepted by the WikiProject that literary present tense is appropriate for fictional character articles. See Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man. For more informations, see: Wikipedia:Guide to writing better articles#Check your fiction, Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (writing about fiction)#Tense, & Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics/Archive 11#Literary present tense. (copied from ChrisGriswold's page.)

[edit] Fan Links

I delete 99% of fan links.
If your site doesn't come up on the first page of a google search for a topic (i.e. CSI Fan Fiction), then it's not really notable, and probably doesn't add much to the encyclopedia quality of Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a link repository.

[edit] Language and formatting

I may mess up, but I try and write in plain English on talk pages, and stick to the status-quo when formatting replies. When I have to stop and re-read something three or four times because someone got 'special' with their formatting, it makes baby Wiki cry. Sometimes it's good to be normal :)

The Barnstar of Good Humor
You made me laugh when I read your input on the Talk:Miley Cyrus page and you were talking about her religious orientation and you called her evasive after what you wrote! Simple yet hilarious! BarnStar Boy 23:53, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
