[edit] Beetle tax

Can anyone provide information about the beetle tax, if there is or was such a tax. Snowman 11:50, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

  • I believe 'Beetle Tax' was a popular nickname given to a new tax made permissible under the Public Libraries Act of 1850 for the maintenance of public museums. I have amended the Ipswich Museum article to avoid the term. Dr Steven Plunkett 20:20, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
