Ipso Facto is a studio album by the Canadian rock guitarist Rik Emmett, released in 1992. It was Rik's second solo studio album.
The album was certified gold in the US by the RIAA, with sales of over 500,000 copies, on April 24, 1993 and Platinum, with sales of over one million copies, on July 27, 1999.
Ipso Facto was the last Rik Emmett album to truly feature a band as writers, following albums would focus entirely on Rik himself, beginning with The Spiral Notebook three years later, in 1992.
The title of the album, Ipso Facto, means by the fact itself. In Rik's own words, "It is a collection of fourteen cuts, twelve songs and two guitar pieces, all pretty much centered on the theme of the three abiding graces, faith, hope and love, and trying to find my way to them through the spirit of music, songwriting, and the arts and crafts of guitar playing."[citation needed]
