• The software is copyrighted, and so there is no free alternative.
• It stands to reason that the maker of the image would release an image that they were content to identify their product by. An image made by a third party may be less desirable from the point of view of the designers of the software.
• A perfect screenshot would be difficult; the image quality would be poorer because it would be of the screen, and altered from the screen to the lens of the camera.
• The image is used for identification and critical commentary of the interface.
• The image does not infringe upon the merchantability of Apple.
• The image is used for educational purposes and freely available to anyone with internet access.
