Iphis is the name of seven characters in Greek mythology:
1. Iphis, daughter (and later son) of Ligdus and Telethusa.
2. Iphis, a humble man, who killed himself for love of Anaxarete.
3. Iphis, son of Alector, and one of the kings in Argos. Polynices came to him for advice on how to get Amphiaraus to join the Seven Against Thebes. He advised him to give Eriphyle the necklace of Harmonia. He was the father of Eteoclus and Evadne, wife of Capaneus [1] He left his kingdom to his nephew Sthenelus, the son of his brother Capaneus.[2]
4. Iphis one of the Argonauts. He was killed in battle in Colchis. [3]
5. Iphis was a woman given to Patroclus by Achilles when the latter hero conquered the city of Scyros [4]
6. Iphis, one of the daughters of Thespius and Megamede. She bore Heracles a son, Celeustanor. [5]
7. Iphis was a Thebes warrior, one of the defenders against the Seven Against Thebes. He was killed by Acamas. [6]
