Iowa Highway 48 is a state highway that runs from north to south in southwest Iowa. It has a length of 48 miles.

Its southern terminus is in Shenandoah at U.S. Highway 59. Its northern terminus is at U.S. Highway 6 near Lewis.

Iowa Highway 48 begins at U.S. Highway 59 in Shenandoah, goes east briefly, then turns northeast. At Essex, it turns east for a short distance, then turns straight north towards Red Oak. It goes through Red Oak and meets U.S. Highway 34. It continues north, turns east, and passes through Elliott. Shortly after that, it turns north, and meets Iowa Highway 92 at Griswold. It continues north, and ends at U.S. Highway 6 near Lewis.
