The Iowa Blackhawks are an indoor football team in the American Professional Football League. They have been around since 2004. They play their homes games at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
In their first season they almost played in the league championship but lost a tiebreaker to the Missouri Minutemen to decide who was going.
In their second season they were a top team in the APFL. Led by Chuck Wright, they earned a home playoff game, which they won against the Wichita Aviators. [1] They then traveled to Topeka to face the Kansas Koyotes in the championship. The game was a barnburner and the Hawks defense only allowed ten points, but sixteen points were scored on the offense and special teams and the Koyotes won in the last seconds by a field goal. [2]
In their third season, which they started out with quarterback Troy Travis leading the team. However, he abruptly left the team to play for the Sioux City Bandits of United Indoor Football, which earned him a bad reputation from Blackhawk fans. They then had replacement quarterbacks for the next three games. The first game they didn't have a backup quarterback so they used LB Kurt Ferguson. Chris Raff played the next game, which was a blowout against the Missouri Minutemen. In the third game Jeremy Clark was the QB. He had a tough time against the Koyotes and they lost 61-35. In their next game against the Minutemen, the Blackhawks got Chuck Wright back and he led them to three consecutive victories, which was good enough for third place in the APFL. However, they lost to the Kansas Koyotes in the semifinals. Chuck Wright is my brother and he is the greatest ever to paly the game. from Tyler Placeres. [3]
