Welcome to wikipedia as said before! In regards to your edits at Iota Nu Delta I would suggest that you to read over the Copyright policy at wikipedia. Also please take note of the Neutral Point of View when editing articles. I noticed your edits to the Iota Nu Delta article are similar to what was previously on the page before I started watching it and editing it. The reason I edited it in the first place is that somebody had taken the text straight from the Iota Nu Delta website without permission from the fraternity itself. This is against Wikipedia policy. I don't want you to feel that you've done something wrong, I just wanted you to be aware of this and wikipedia's policy. I hope you don't mind if I go through and edit it myself, in a few days so it isn't in copyright violation. Or you can do that yourself! Anyway just a friendly note from a fellow wikipedian! I hope you have fun editing. --ImmortalGoddezz 04:27, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- email from Warmachine 202, email withheld, on June 28th, 2006
- Hi, I am responding to you regarding your email sent to me about Iota Nu Delta. I have complete permission from the President of Iota Nu Delta Fraternity to use all/whatever material that is necessory for the wikipedia.
- email response from ImmortalGoddezz to Warmachine202 on June 28th, 2006
- Hi Warmachine202,
- Thanks for your reply! Since wikipedia is a free encyclopedia the permission needs to be confirmed as per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Confirmation_of_permission. I have already emailed Iota Nu Delta so that should be it. When it is confirmed that permission is given by Iota Nu Delta a template will be placed on the talk page of Iota Nu Delta to prevent people from reporting the page as a copyright violation. That should be it. Also I would like to suggest if you don't want the article edited mercilessly by the wikiprojects:Fraternities and Sororities it needs to sound less like a Rush Brochure and more like an encyclopedia article. (i.e. remove 'we' 'our' etc.) I know you're proud of your fraternity, it shows in the way this article is written (heck I'm proud of my sorority), but wikipedia is a place to give information, not recruit people. I'm sure that's not your intention, but I thought I would mention it. Anyway happy editing.

email to Iota Nu Delta at info@iotanudelta.org on June 28th, 2006 requesting confirmation
Dear Iota Nu Delta, I am writing to confirm whether permission is granted to use a page from your website under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GFDL ). A user with the username of Warmachine202 (email withheld) has pasted in text from your website [1] to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The text concerns Iota Nu Delta and the original submission can be viewed at [2]. This user claims in an email to have permission from the President of Iota Nu Delta Fraternity Inc., to use this material, but for the page to remain on our site, we need further evidence that this is the case. The article will be deleted in seven days time if permission is not confirmed, though it can be undeleted at a later date if you choose to respond later to state that such use is allowed. Thank you for your time. I look forward to your response. Yours faithfully, Candice Wikipedia user name: ImmortalGoddezz Email: --
As of today's date (July 18th, 2006) there has been no response from Iota Nu Delta. It has been well over a week since I sent the confirmation email, instead of placing a copy violation tag on the page I choose to revert it to it's non-copyright version. --ImmortalGoddezz 04:10, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Comment on ImmortalGoddezz's talk page by Deserteagle22 regarding Iota Nu Delta on July 18th, 2006.
Hello there, thank you for updating and cleaning up the Iota Nu Delta wiki. I did notice that your newest update says that you did not obtain any permission from the fraternity to post material from the website, and therefore have removed most of the material on there. However, WarMachine202 is actually a member of the fraternity and has received permission from the National Board of the fraternity to post the material on the wiki page, since he is the wikipedia admin of the fraternity. I am not sure what method you used to contact the fraternity, but you can either send an e-mail to **** or write directly to the fraternity at their mailing address listed on the website. The material posted on the wiki was given explicit permission to be done so. We will be reverting the wiki page back to the last update prior to your's, if you have any further questions, please be sure to write to the aforementioned contact. We appreciate all of your help with cleaning up the site, thank you!
- Response on Deserteagle22's talk page on July 18th, 2006.
- Hi Deserteagle22 for replying, though I do have to say I did get in contact with Iota Nu Delta (please see Iota Nu Delta's talk page) and did not recieve any confirmation to use the material on wikipedia. Had I gotten confirmation, the email would have been forwarded to wikipedia and a tag placed on the talk page indicating the material was provided by Iota Nu Delta. As you said on my talk page 'However, WarMachine202 is actually a member of the fraternity and has received permission from the National Board of the fraternity to post the material on the wiki page' just because he is a member of the fraternity does not give him the right to use the material on the site, which is why I contacted him in the first place regarding wikipedia's copyright policy (the whole conversation can be found on the talk page), additionally confirmation needs to be sent to wikipedia if the copyrighted information is infact granted use on wikipedia under the GNU free documentation license. Until confirmation is received by wikipedia, the information on the page is in copyright infringement. I'm not trying to be inflexible about this, but I can't just take your word for it (nor can wikipedia). Wikipedia needs confirmation from the fraternity, I had sent an email to the address on the website which stated 'The article will be deleted in seven days time if permission is not confirmed, though it can be undeleted at a later date if you choose to respond later to state that such use is allowed.' Instead of deleting I chose to revert to a previous revision of the page. Quite frankly until confirmation is received by wikipedia the information should stay out of copyright infringement. I will email the fraternity again today at both info@iotanudelta.org and webteam@iotanudelta.org to see about getting confirmation until then the page should be reverted so that it is currently not under copyright infringment. When confirmation is received by wikipedia, I will be the first in line to bring it back the way it was after Warmachine202 edited it, until then I'm just following wikipedia policy, I hope you understand. Oh, also when posting on somebody's talk page please sign your name. Wikipedia automatically places your name and the time and date on your post when you put in four tildes (~~~~). Thanks --ImmortalGoddezz 20:23, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Received permission (ticket# 2006071910003349) --Timichal 00:33, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
There is a factual error in this article; it's located under the "Foundation" heading. There is a claim that Iota Nu Delta is the "first south asian fraternity" in the country and it is written in bold. This is actually incorrect because the "first south asian fraternity" in the country is Delta Phi Beta (they have a wiki page also). Iota Nu Delta was founded in 1994, whereas Delta Phi Beta was founded in 1992.
please remove or change. Thank you.
[edit] Clean up needed
This article basically just says whatever the fraternity believes and its motto and so on, it needs to be made more neutral. --AW 21:16, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:INDcrest.jpg
Image:INDcrest.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
