[edit] Wikiproject:Freemasonry
Thanks for joining the project! I'll just point out that as far as I know, every single person in WP:Freemasonry is a Freemason, so we are aware of the contexts in which we use terms (and the Mason/Freemason distinction is mentioned in the main Freemasonry article). However, you make some interesting assertions that I'd like to see followed up. For example, the only context I've heard Emulation in is the English Craft ritual. I've never heard it used as a Rite, especially not as a combination of York and Scottish Rites. Also, do you mean "standard Scottish ritual" as in "ritual used by the GL of Scotland", or something else entirely? MSJapan 19:27, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Grips,etc.
The material on grips and the operative/speculative connection may be valid, but it is too far afield of what we are trying to say in that article; Freemasonry is supposed to be as generic as possible, and the origin of grips is a little too specific for that article. Perhaps in History of Freemasonry? However, that's problematic - for every source that asserts operative origin of the Craft, there are others that assert Biblical origins, Egyptian origins, Enlightenment origins, Rosicrucian origins, and so on. It's very hard to get behind one theory as far as Wikipedia goes, so we need to delve into all of them with the appropriate caveats in order to avoid POV issues (unless the viewpoint is patently ridiculous, like Freemasonry was started by William Shatner or something).
As for participating in the Wikiproject, just go to the Project page (Wikipedia:WikiProject Freemasonry), add yourself to the list if you want, get the userbox if you want, and just pick something to work on. I will point out that the more established Freemasonry articles are contentious, so if you have a major change to make, it's usually better to discuss it first. We're trying to get Freemasonry up to FA (the person that GA delisted it is incommunicado), so that article in particular needs to be stable. I'd say to work wherever your interests are without defocusing the article you're working on. MSJapan 17:37, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Greek Freemasons
First, don't make a separate list of Greek Freemasons - we've got a list at List of Freemasons. You don't have to ask permission, but you shouldn't use anyone's personal page to get the references, because there's no way to really know if it is accurate. If there's an official book or page that lists famous Greek Freemasons, use that, and just enclose the reference in <ref></ref>, otherwise the entries will be removed. [edit] User talk:Akradecki
I noticed that you just posted to Allan's page. I thought I would let you know that he has be off Wikipedia since 11 December 2007 and we haven't heard from him since. I think he may be overseas and off the net. You may want to take your request to another Admin. - Ahunt (talk) 13:32, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
