[edit] Misplaced 'okina
In the sidebar, it says that the school mascot is "I'o". The correct spelling, if you are including the 'okina, is 'Io. I had no idea how to edit that particular section.
It might be worth finding out if it's even true that the mascot is an 'io. It wasn't when I was there, but that was in antedeluvian times and it might have changed. I'd check the school website, but it seems to be not responding just now.
- Figured out that "edit this page" means "edit this page". Also remembered to sign this time.--Salor 01:59, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
Considering the statue infront of the library is of an 'Io, i would have to think it is.
The vandalism at <22:38, 8 April 2005 204.130.130.185 (Talk) (Adding section "teh infamous teachers")> is a must-read. It reminds me of some "underground" publications when I attended. Speaking of publications, I follow the alum section in the bulletin. Most of you would not believe where life has taken some of us. Not in a negative or better-than/worse-than sense. Just very different, unconventional, and interesting. It's been an adventure, that's all I can say.
[edit] Mascot
Please sign your posts using four tildes, thank you. I'm not too sure if the mascot is an 'io (hawk), what about the 'Go Raiders'? Should that be included in the article? I recieve the 'Iolani bulletin as well, I think that that can be used as a reliable source. Midorihana(talk)(contribs) 07:45, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think 'Iolani has a mascot. I know that the school symbol is the 'Io, hence the name 'Iolani. I think "Go Raiders" should be included in the article. It's like the de facto motto of the school. "On Team-Humble in Victory, Gracious in Defeat" would be the de jure motto. The 'Iolani Bulletin would be a pretty good source. --Benedict of Constantinople (talk) 07:28, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

- Actually, no, considering the fact that third party sources are needed. Midorihana~いいですね? はい! 08:02, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

- According to WP:SELFPUB (section of WP:Verifiability), the Bulletin would be acceptable for the items that Benedict of Constantinople suggests. We would need third-party sources to verify things like school rankings or competition wins. Flatscan (talk) 16:58, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sun Yat-sen
Why is Sun Yat-sen, aka "Sunny", also listed as an alum of Punahou?
- He shouldn't. Midorihana(talk)(contribs) 07:45, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- The Sun Yat-sen and Punahou School articles both describe him as having attended Oahu College (Punahou), not as an alumnus. Flatscan 01:30, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

- Oh, I see. I think I've heard that from someone before. Midorihana(talk)(contribs) 04:42, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sun Yat-sen graduated from Iolani, his alma mater. After graduating, he attended Punahou for a period (one semester, I think) of time. This, of course, is all in the article. It'd be a lie to say that Sun was an alumnus of Punahou. --Benedict of Constantinople (talk) 07:23, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Facilities
Would it make sense to have a new section about the different buildings, equipment, etc. ? I know that the Weinberg building has only existed for a couple of years, but Castle and I-building are much older. Midorihana(talk)(contribs) 04:44, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- I made a Campus section about the buildings. Midorihana(talk)(contribs) 01:38, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
