Ioannis Pallikaris

Pallikaris Ioannis G. (Παλλήκαρης Ιωάννης in Greek) is a Greek ophthalmologist who in 1989 performed the first LASIK procedure on a human eye.[1] Pallikaris also developed Epi-LASIK.[2].
Professor Palikaris is the current (2006-2008) rector of the University of Crete and is also the director of the Institute of Vision and Optics (IVO[3]) in the same university. One of IVO's labs is the Vardinogianion Eye Institute of Crete - VEIC (Βαρδινογιάννειο Εργαστήριο Μεταμοσχεύσεων και Μικροχειρουργικής Οφθαλμού - BEMMO[4] in Greek) where lots of clinical trials are performed every week on humans. He is also the scientific director of the Turkish eye care hospital Dünya Goz [5][6][7].
Ioannis Pallikaris is the father of Georgios Palikaris (aka Gpal) a famous Greek music producer/DJ.
