[edit] This is an important issue.
Who are these guys? Who financed the movie? Where does money from the movie and their sale of bracelets, tee-shirts, etc. go?
I agree. There should be a section about this not being an NPO but rather having Inc. as part of their name, which suggests that they're not the "typical" non-profit organization. The whole thing seems a little shady & I think that the criticism should be part of the article, so that people can make smart decisions about donating to this organization or not. [edit] Answer to: This is an Important issue.
The first two questions should be answered by the Invisible Children article. The money raised goes to relief in Uganda.
[edit] Another answer
Invisible Children is regularly audited by third party firms. Their financial statements are provided for you online (https://secure.invisiblechildren.com/donate/). Click on Annual Report and Financial Statement. There, you will find that 50% of their income is based on the sale of merchandise (this is why they invest so much in publicizing/packaging). Also, their 2007 Update CD will tell you that 90% of the direct cash donations that Invisible Children receives is $20 or less. That also affirms their belief in how "a lot of littles add to a big difference." Every dollar counts. I hope that was helpful.
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Invisible Children.gif
Image:Invisible Children.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
