Invercargill (New Zealand electorate)

The Invercargill electorate is a seat in the Parliament of New Zealand, representing Invercargill city and the surrounding rural area.

The seat was established in 1866 when it separated from the Wallace Electorate.

In 1996 a boundary redistribution resulted in the abolition of the Awarua seat and merged in to the Invercargill electorate following re-drawing of boundaries due to the introduction of Mixed Member Proportional voting (MMP).
