[edit] Split to NY 81
I have proposed a split of this article and that NY 81 get its own article becaus when I clicked on the link to NY 81, I got this article instead! JB82 16:50, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think NY 81 may be I-81. I don't know if NY 81 exists. Any experts on this? --MPD01605 (T / C) 17:15, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- And also, it wouldn't really require a split. You'd just go back to the NY 81 page, remove the redirect to I-81, and write the appropriate article. Of course, NY 81 would have to redirect to the appropriate naming convention for New York. --MPD01605 (T / C) 17:18, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- NY 81 does exist - it's a route located in the Capital District. Like has been said, a split isn't necessary since no information on NY 81 is present on the I-81 article. IMHO, whoever created the New York State Route 81 → Interstate 81 redirect erred in doing so, as the two routes are not the same in any way nor should they be considered the same. --TMF T - C 18:55, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- There will be, shortly. JB82 02:07, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I-81 page overhaul
This page is kind of a mess like many of the other interstate pages, messy and with information that should be properly divided into its poorly-linked subpages. Inspired by MPD01605's recent overhaul of I-95 I have tried to apply the same format to this page: User:Krimpet/Interstate 81. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions? Krimpet 06:53, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- That looks good- much better than it does right now. But do I have any specific suggestions? Not really. I have a few things I'd add into the route description. I'll let you know later (or just do it when the article is replaced). Good job. --MPD T / C 11:53, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
I've restored some of the info from the notes section to include relavent information that was previously lost. --Mhking 13:14, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I integrated the rest of this info in the article and its sub-articles. I mentioned the wrong-way concurrency in Interstate 81 in Virginia, added I-81E to former Auxiliary Routes (might also want to integrate this section into the I-81 template below it somehow), the part about the bridge is already repeated verbatim at Interstate 81 in New York, and I mentioned the "Miracle Mile" thing in Interstate 81 in Pennsylvania (although it probably needs a cite). [edit] long distance mileage sign
- In Maryland, the control city of Roanoke, Virginia, over 200 miles away, is used for I-81 south; and the control city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, about 75 miles away, is used for I-81 north, even though the next control city for I-81 south is Martinsburg, West Virginia and the next control city for I-81 north is Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
[edit] Note: On I-81's Northern Terminus
The northern end of Interstate 81 is at Ontario King's Highway 401 as shown on all maps. This is why I modified the northern end to Highway 401. 74.13.130.228 23:38, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- Except it can't end at the 401 because the 401 is a few miles in Canada, and even though the road continues, it is not Interstate 81 once it crosses the border, it is Highway 137. Changing it back. --MPD T / C 23:51, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
