[edit] IRQ9

I am skeptical that IRQ9 cascades to IRQ2. IRQ9 is sometimes used for SCSI or RAID disk controllers, and other devices. It is free to be used, unlike IRQ2. I think however, if a device is configured (not by PnP, but by DIP switches) to use IRQ2, then it will actually be using IRQ9. That is, the IRQ circuitry reroutes IRQ 2 signals to IRQ 9. So IRQ 9 becomes the "new IRQ 2". This should be explained by someone who knows this subject better. Myrrhlin 01:23, 5 October 2007 a(UTC)

[edit] IRQs in General

This article is too focused on the IRQ system employed in Intel architecture systems and lacks generality. A reader just getting into computer hardware would be quickly confused by reference to APIC, PICs, etc.
