Talk:Interfaith dialogue

Both articles need major work, but I would suggest that they are ultimately distinct topics. Interfaith dialogue is a particular mode of interfaith interaction. But there are many groups in the more general interfaith movement that are not focused on dialogue, but rather on action. Both are vital parts of the interfaith movement, but the one does exist without the other. Certainly interfaith dialogue in itself has existed far longer than any "movement."

Both articles appear to be classic examples of initial entries by people with a very particular viewpoint. For instance, I was rather surprised to see Fethullah Gulen granted such an exalted status with regard to interfaith dialogue. Certainly he is a presence in some circles, but hardly definitive in my personal experience.

A recommendation: instead of merging the two articles, change "InterFaith" to the Interfaith Movement or something else. It could be argued that "Interfaith" is really just a word in need of definition, rather than a concept that warrants an entire article as such. Sfuqua 05:30, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

See my suggestions variously about linking up or merging Interfaith, Interreligious relations and Ecumenism - there is some overlap between the various topics. Needs someone more knowledgeable than I to decide where the boundaries lie. There is a need for an article or several on the field of how religions view each other and intereact.Jackiespeel 22:33, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

I think this article should exist as it is. Here a particular movement is mentioned. Gulen's movement is a very strong one which govents about 1000 schools all around the world and creates environments that the children of different colors gets education together for a better world. So Gulen's movement put the ideas into the action. It is not stated that the interfaith dialogue is started by Gulen in the article, it is refered to the article interfaith for a general use of the term. Gulen meets many religious figures all around the world including Pope, Cardinals, Rabbis etc from differnet denominations and religions to establish a dialogue atmosphere.
