Intervale Avenue is an elevated station in The Bronx on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Intervale and Westchester Avenues in the Bronx, it is served by the 2 train (all times), and by the 5 train (all times except late nights and rush hours in the peak direction).
The station was once called Intervale Avenue–163rd Street. It was totally rebuilt in 1992 after a fire destroyed the old station. The old station had a wood mezzanine and wood floor. The token booth clerk died in the fire after leaving the booth (which had fire protection). The new station is out of character with the line and has a crossunder. The new mezzanine is metal as is the canopy and windscreen. The stair walls and mezzanine have an embossed leather look. There are two mosaics in the mezzanine by artist Michael Kelly Williams, entitled El 2 and El 5. The floor of the mezzanine is concrete. The mezzanine has glass block windows and escalators to the street.
