Interstellar Alliance

Often used in science fiction works[1], an Interstellar Alliance is an alliance between two or more distinct solar systems. Often in these pieces, there are two or more opposing alliances of varying strengths[2], or a rebel network opposing a single alliance[3]. If faster-than-light travel is ever developed, these types of organizations could theoretically develop^{[citation needed]} in a similar fashion to countries and alliances on Earth.
